Aftercare
First 24 Hours
Keep the cover on for 1 hour.
Remove the cover by wetting it down and gently wash your new tattoo with water and soap to remove ink/residue. Any pump soap will do but a gentle/fragrance-free soap would be best.
Pat dry with clean paper towel and leave to air out.
Use new bed sheets and wear clean loose fitting dark clothing that covers the tattoo from touching anything. As the ink will be pushing to the surface, the clothing may be stuck to your tattoo in the morning - please wet down before removing.
Your skin may feel hot/swollen - try to rest the area if possible. This can be your body starting to heal.
Wash again the following morning. Once dry, you can begin to apply a thin layer of cream. A natural, gentle fragrance-free moisturiser can be used.
Next 14 days
Clean your new tattoo daily and apply cream once a day if necessary. Apply a thin layer with clean hands.
Your new tattoo is an open wound once it starts to heal and seal itself, scabs will begin to form. This will usually happen over a 2 week period.
The cream will aid in adding mobility to the area but it won’t heal it faster, so use sparingly.
Things to avoid:
Scratching / knocking the scabs off during healing.
Wearing tight clothes in the area.
Swimming/soaking the area for 2 weeks.
Chlorine and saunas.
Sun exposure during healing. Once healed, apply suncream.
Your body will continue to heal for another couple of weeks. During this time that tattoo may look dull as skin layers heal and form.
Over the lifetime of your tattoo it will begin to settle and soften.
Your artwork is ‘lived in’ and will subtly change with your body.
